Erä-Oula
Your guide
My name is Oula Niemelä. I am the guide and creator of these adventures. I grew up in a small town in Finland, by lakes and forests. Now my home is in Northern Norway, Tromsø, the gate-way to the Arctic.
I have been taking people out on adventures for nearly 10 years in the polar regions. Guide work has taken me from the High Arctic all the way to Antarctic peninsula. I started guiding in Northern Lapland, which is still one of my favourite destinations. Before settling in Tromsø, I lived five years in Svalbard, where I gained a lot of knowledge about Arctic travel.
I have following certifications:
-
Arctic Nature Guide (UiT)
-
Nature and Wilderness Guide
-
Avalanche technician (SVELAV)
-
Avalanche instructor (FINLAV)
-
Activity leader for sea kayaking (NPF)
-
Wilderness First Responder (WMS)
It is important that my guests feel safe and comfortable on my adventures. On a trip with Erä-Oula you can explore the great outdoors in a small and intimate group. My goal is to provide my guests with new learning and knowledge. Perhaps you get a chance to expand your comfort zone in a safe and supportive atmosphere.
Adventuring with respect for nature and sustainability are my greatest values, which I also want to convey to my guests.
